Drought Contingency Plan
The Western Virginia Water Authority's Drought Contingency Plan is based on the Carvins Cove reservoir levels during a particular month of the year. Declining reservoir levels, as indicated in the drought operation curves below, will trigger specific water use restrictions.
Using today's Carvins Cove Reservoir level, you can see what restrictions, if any, are currently in place. For example, if the reservoir level in January is 20 feet below the spillway, customers in the Authority's service area would be asked to voluntarily conserve water.
