Printable Project Summary Update (updated April 2026)

PHASE 1B

  • Replacement of an additional 15,700 feet of 2” galvanized pipe and pre-1930’s cast iron.
  • Project to improve water quality, reduce outages, and improve domestic and fire flows.
  • Phase 1B Cost = $8.2M
  • This project was approved for funding in September 2024
    • Construction began in January 2025 with estimated completion by May 2026

PHASE 1A - COMPLETED

  • Replacement of 23,200 feet of 2” galvanized pipe and pre-1930’s cast iron.
  • Project to improve water quality, reduce outages, and improve domestic and fire flows.
  • Collaboration with Roanoke City FY25 CIP Paving
  • Total Project Cost = $10.4M

This project, which is being funded though the Virginia Department of Health with federal Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) funds, will offer improved distribution water flows, reduction of water service disruption by replacing old lines and valves, more fire hydrants in the project area, and replacement of service lines to customer’s meters.  The project began in March 2024 and is now complete.  Final paving and restoration work is being done in the spring of 2026.
