Prescription Drug Take-Back

Over 50,000 pounds of prescription medications have been collected at area take-back events.  These events, sponsored by the Western Virginia Water Authority, Roanoke Area Youth Substance Abuse Coalition, area law enforcement officers and the Drug Enforcement Administration provide a free, secure place to dispose of unwanted medications and helps protect our waterways,  prevent drug abuse and makes our communities safer. 

The next Take-Back Event will be Saturday, October 25 from 10 am - 2 pm. Locations by locality can be found below or by clicking here:

Where can you safely dispose of medications between take-back events?

Year-round medication disposal is available at permanent drop-off boxes around the valley.  Please visit one of the year-round medication collection locations listed below or visit www.dea.gov or takethemback.org for specific drug disposal sites in your area.
