Land Application

Once fully processed, the sludge is applied to farm land as fertilizer. This is a free service supplied to area farmers by the Water Pollution Control Plant. The estimated value of the biosolids when land applied is $140 per acre. This is direct savings to the farmer for what would have otherwise been spent on conventional fertilizatoin methods. The contaminant level and quality of the biosolids is held to strict standards set forth and enforced by the EPA.

In addition to the financial benefits, biosolids serve as an excellent fertilzer. Below is a plot of land shortly after being treated. Almost immediately, the crop grows greener and taller than crops grown on an equivalent, untreated parcel of land.
