Industrial Electrician I

Division: Industrial Maintenance
Status: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Industrial Maintenance Coordinator
Salary Range: $29,993-$44,990

SUMMARY OF JOB
Performs skilled electrical work in the design, wiring, installation and maintenance of Authority wastewater facilities. This is skilled work on the Journeyman Electrician's level involving responsibility for difficult electrical design, maintenance and repair operations as well as installation work on electronic devices. Work is performed according to National Electrical Code and State, County, City and Water Regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned or scheduled.

Oversees and directs work of assigned employees.

Identifies and reports work progress of assigned employee to responsible supervisor/manager.

Reports problems and conflicts to supervisor immediately or as soon as possible.

Performs skilled electrical work in the design, wiring, installation and maintenance of Authority water facilities.

Trains and instructs subordinates.

Serves as an expert resource in the guidance and instruction of the work of subordinate Industrial Electricians and service workers.

Performs trade work in multiple assigned areas at a Master level, such as millwright, welding, carpentry, HVAC, electrical and plumbing.

Skilled mastery of controls and PLCs

Discusses job requirements with and receives detailed instruction from supervisor.

Inspects work in progress to assure conformance with instructions.

Coordinates with other department operational and technical personnel in the performance of assigned tasks.

Diagnoses, adjusts, repairs and services the full range of power-driven equipment as found in the water treatment industry.

May assist with the design of circuitry for new installations.

Determines correct wire and equipment size.

Requisitions necessary equipment and orders required materials.

Wire buildings and makes additions to existing wiring.

Plans and installs remote control and telemetry through telephone and radio circuits.

Tests electrical equipment for operation and safety.

Installs and maintains intra-communication systems and alarms.

Installs and repairs electrical switches, magnetic starters and relays.

Installs and repairs electric motors.

Installs and repairs PLC circuits.

Sizes pumps, valves, & motors.

Communicates with power and telephone companies on needed requirements.

Interprets charts, blueprints and maps.

Maintains time and material records and prepares simple reports.

Subject to twenty-four (24) call.

CERTIFICATE, LICENSE, REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
Must possess a valid Virginia driver's license or have the ability to obtain one within 60 days of employment date. No more than six (6)

demerit points on driving record if required to drive Water Authority vehicles.

Master Electrician’s license.

SUMMARY OF JOB
Performs skilled work in the operations of the sewage treatment plant. Completes reports, evaluates operation of equipment, and collects samples.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

SUMMARY OF JOB
Provides planning, design, project engineering, and contract administration of various construction projects. Responsibilities entail accountability based on measurable cost effective results for the substance, efficiency, productivity and quality of assigned projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reviews plans, specifications, and submittals for various projects.

Prepares project construction plans and specifications for water treatment, storage, pumping, and distribution and wastewater collection,

pumping, and treatment.

Prepares cost estimates on engineering projects.

Performs field surveys, mapping, and inspection for a variety of engineering projects.

Coordinates work performed by engineering consultants in the preparation of designs, plans, specifications, cost estimates, plats, and

easements for assigned projects.

Coordinates activities with local jurisdictions, state and federal agencies, private businesses, contractors, consultants and others involved

with Authority projects.

Assists in the formulation of long-range programs for utility improvements.

Assists contractors and customers with technical information and questions relating to Authority projects.

Assists with Board reports (staff studies) for various engineering related projects, for presentation and action by the Authority’s Board.

Participates in public meetings to inform citizens of engineering related projects.

Prepares request for proposals for professional services, contract studies and reports.

SUMMARY OF JOB
Performs preventive maintenance of sewer lines. Inspects private and public building for compliance of storm/ground water access.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Inspects both private and public buildings for illegal storm/ground water access to the sanitary sewer system.

Programs, installs, take readings, and troubleshoot flow monitoring equipment.

Performs field work for inflow and infiltration studies.

Operates computer in maintaining the records of defects and preparing necessary reports.

Discusses job requirements with and receives detailed instruction from the SSER Supervisor or SSE/R Superintendent.

Purchases necessary materials and supplies.

Maintains time and material reports and prepares summary reports of findings.

Trains and instructs subordinates.

Enters manholes and assist others in entering manholes as needed.

Coordinates with other personnel in the performance of assigned tasks.

Responsible for insuring that both the daily and reoccurring maintenance on SSER equipment is performed.

Coordinates with and advises the public on daily or emergency functions.

Subject to 24 hour on call.

portion of the Class B Commercial Driver's license within 60 days and pass the driving test and obtain a Class B Commercial Driver's License

with tanker endorsement within 90 days.

Must have passed the Sacremento Operation of Wastewater Collection System course.

Performs unskilled and skilled work in the repairs, maintenance, and construction of water facilities and equipment and maintaining water and sanitary sewer service to customers including the operation of motorized equipment Directs personnel and equipment usage in completion of work.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Trains and instructs subordinates.

Operates equipment when necessary.
