The Western Virginia Water Authority strives to provide accurate and exceptional service to all water and sewer customers.

The Western Virginia Water Authority is pleased to offer several payment options to its customers, which are listed below.

Our most convenient payment is automatic bank drafting from your checking or savings account. This convenient recurring process is free and assures that your bill is paid in full and on-time every month, even if you are out of town.

If you are paying within two days of your due date, we recommend that you use eCheck or pay in person in order to avoid late fees. With either of these free options, your payment will be processed the next business day.


1. Pay Your Bill On-Line

eCheck
When you receive your bill each month, you can make a secure on-line payment by transferring funds from your personal checking or savings account. This service is free and payments made by eCheck will be processed the next business day.

On-line credit card payment
You may pay your Western Virginia Water Authority utility bill with a credit card on-line. Be aware that on-line payments do not reach the Water Authority Utility Billing Office instantaneously. To avoid late payment fees, allow at least five days for on-line payment processing. A transaction fee is applied to this service.

If you pay using on-line banking, your bank should include your Western Virginia Water Authority account number on all payments. Your bank should send payment payable to the Western Virginia Water Authority at:

2. Pay by Mail

Be sure to include your Western Virginia Water Authority account number on all payments.

Mail your payment and payment stub using the return envelopes provided with your bill. If using your own envelopes, make your check payable to:

Direct payments are sent to Baltimore because the Western Virginia Water Authority has contracted with a payment-processing company there that makes bank deposits and electronically sends payments to the Water Authority. To avoid late payment fees, please allow up to five days for payment processing.



3. Pay by Phone

To avoid late payment fees, allow at least five days for payment processing. A transaction fee is applied to this service.

1. Call 1-800-272-9829. You will be prompted to enter the following information on your touch tone phone keypad.

2. Press 3 when prompted.

3. Enter Jurisdiction Code 6211, press 1 when prompted to confirm.

4. Press 1 to pay a utility bill. Enter your 19-digit account number and confirm when prompted.

5. Enter a daytime phone number with area code, and confirm when prompted.

6. Enter payment amount. When you confirm, the system will then confirm your total including your convenience fee. (transaction fee)

7. Enter credit card information as prompted.

The system will give you a verbal receipt number.


4. Pay in Person

You may put your payment in one of the Water Authority's drop boxes. Payments placed in our drop boxes are processed the next business day.

  • In front of the Water Authority Utility Billing Office at 601 S. Jefferson Street - in downtown Roanoke at the corner of Franklin Road and Jefferson Street
  • On Church Avenue across from the Noel C. Taylor Municipal Building at 215 Church Avenue
  • In the parking lot of the Roanoke County Administration Center at 5204 Bernard Drive.


Customers may also pay in person at the Water Authority's Utility Billing Office between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., excluding holidays:
