Community Service
The Water Authority is committed to the Roanoke community, which it serves. Since its first year of operation, the Water Authority has participated in several community service projects, including the Roanoke Valley United Way campaign and the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life.
In our first year, the United Way of Roanoke Valley bestowed the Water Authority with the 2004 Outstanding First Time Employee Campaign Award in the public sector. Water Authority employees contributed more than $9,300 to the campaign. Our commitment to giving continued in 2005 with employees giving more than $10,500 to the campaign. The Water Authority received a Campaign Chair Award from the United Way of Roanoke Valley in 2005 for outstanding achievements.
Employees pledged over $17,000 to the United Way of Roanoke Valley as part of 2006 Campaign and over $21,000 as part of the 2007 Campaign.
